Upon Lacing My Shoes to Leave

Oh darling, it's a wasteland; haven't you ever known one?

I would argue that you have; however, the tricky thing about wastelands is that they tend to be quite sneaky.

They're the type to creep up and overtake a place while others sit idly, blissfully unaware of the war that takes place beneath their very feet.

Haven't you ever encountered a night—one where your steps felt the heaviness of your shoes, but when you removed them, your feet felt heavy too? That, my darling, is a wasteland.
