Interchangeable

Commodified curiosities
Living in The Now
Losing yourself to Everything
And laughing at the ground.

Maybe I have lost it
In the lives of boys
And the toils of men.
Maybe it all boils down to
When it starts and where it ends.

Maybe I have blurred the lines
And lost the ones
That bless broken shrines.
Maybe I have lost the ones
That break me down
In business that binds.

Maybe I have lost myself
To living in boxes
And trusting trolls.
Maybe I've found my place
In cardboard clouds
Under broken bridges of stone.

Only time will tell
Where we are:
How far from hell.
And only time will see us through
The cardboard boxes that befell.

Cancellation

I can't change my hair to match your mood
It can't be shades of red or blue.

I can't be older to follow you;
My age is something only I pursue.

We whispered vows in the night
That kept me alive
And when life got crazy-
As lives will do-
You went on your way:
Not to adjust, just to renew.

Gifted and Misused

The wind kisses your cheek
And carries your cologne
Down streets and alleys
It doesn't belong.
And bruises the bones
Of neighbors and clones
And steals the souls
Of forgotten trolls.

She dances and whispers
Of British beauty
And wears scarves and scents
Of a stranger's home.

Unseen by mirrors
The wind dances within your heart
And steals the silence
Of another's depart.

And though we don't belong,
And though I've grown too strong
I can't help but wish
For a love that's so wrong.

Empty Handed

Your body stained red
But your hands were clear.
As bells chime closer
You run from your fear.

A stammer of goodbye,
Your colorless hands
Wave tears to my eyes.

Staring ahead
At the light that departs.
You're already dead
But alive in my heart.

Sinking Feeling

Two years of beautiful lies
And beautiful times
When we'd lay on the bed
With the world at our feet
And warm our toes
In the echoing sea.
And we'd wait until morning
And creepily sneak
Up to the top
Of every mountain's peak.
And we'd remember the threat
Of waking from sleep
But we'd make the best
Of each memory.
And we'd hold tight to the thoughts
That danced through our heads
And bled through the sleeves
Of each parting dream.

And never did we swear
We won't make it
We can't fake it.
We believed in a fate
Much bigger than ourselves
And we paraded through halls
Much deeper than hell
And we fell for each other
Like drowning in wells
But our souls floated upwards
And rang bucket bells
And safe we remained
In our bodies
And stairwells.

Beautiful Days

I miss lazy barefoot Sundays
Spending half the day in pajamas
Tied tightly around your waist.
And my hair was up with
Yesterday's makeup across my face.
Acting as if
those were our most beautiful days.

A Call to Arms

A months worth of torture;
A prisoner of your own war.
You've held yourself captive
And deny your escape.

A month wasted
In agony and sorrow.
A cell filled to its brim
With tears and lost sin.

Impossible to deny
The feelings that remain.
With each wandering eye
You are called to my brain.

The guilt of goodbye
And melancholy maybe,
Leading my army astray
For in my mind you remain.

To mobilize
Then to realize
It is never too late.

Put down your weapons
And let me into your arms.
