Tears feel warm
Against cold skin
But my cheeks feel warm
Where your hands have been.
You whisper "don't forget"
As you wave goodbye.
You leave to board that jet,
But my broken wings won't fly.
A sad scrap mutters
"See You Soon"
to make a sad heart flutter?
Or possibly a clue...?
And as winds whip and whistle.
I walk a lonely road.
Memories of times never forgotten.
A place that I call home.
A gentle face to call my own.
I may be lonely, but I'll never be alone.

Thanks for the Help
Lost in endless time and space.
Questions from the past;
Reminded of memories long repressed.
To be alone in a world of billions.
An offer of help which won't assist.
Therapies cause confusion and hatred.
Far from intoxicated,
But the circle grows larger by one.
A daunting empty blackboard
As scratches in it quickly deepen
With just the eyes that wander towards her.
No chip for I am not sober,
No medals for I am not clean.
Should I squalor in the filth I call my own?
Another day spent wasting away a dream.
A leap backwards,
As a brave step toward the finish
Slowly recedes.
I'm still a disability.
Questions from the past;
Reminded of memories long repressed.
To be alone in a world of billions.
An offer of help which won't assist.

The End
Get me out of here,
Take me anywhere but here.
Kill me inside.
Kill my vision;
Make me blind.
Call my bluff,
Catch my drift.
Enough is enough.
This is it.
Take me anywhere but here.
Kill me inside.
Kill my vision;
Make me blind.
Call my bluff,
Catch my drift.
Enough is enough.
This is it.

The Tunnel's Train of Thought
I've left the light behind,
Ran fifteen feet into the depths of my own mind.
Kept my feet moving without my eyes to guide them.
Kept my mind moving
Without the light to blind them.
I kept the switch set to off,
Traveling unchartered trails.
Worn by feet before,
But my mind shall be the first.
A virgin to these revolutionary thoughts.
Never a glimmer in the thick of it.
Hope is all that remains
As thoughts consume my brain.
When vision is no longer a factor,
The mind can trail off to wonderful places.
Entering the tunnel,
I should have slowed my pace.
I entered the darkest part of the race.
I picked up my feet,
With ambition I ran towards the darkness.
As hope was taken to a climax I began to slow.
Why should I not embrace the darkness,
Why not embrace the trail of thought?
Though the darkness may consume me,
Sure I may be covered in a black abyss,
But these are welcomed attributes of a freed mind.
Miles pass;
While my brain says to give up,
Hope keeps telling me to try.
Left and right are what I know for sure to be true.
Up or down may never again show themselves to the shame of daylight.
Thoughts, far from material,
They are what I have.
In one hand I hold a flashlight.
What a trivial thing.
I travel countless blackened miles,
What justice will this talisman bring?
Submerged in darkness,
I am running.
I pray I never see the light.
But darkness subsides to daytime,
The tiny light ahead heeds to the pitter-patter of my own two feet.
I beat the abyss,
But I feel only defeat.
An unwelcome entrance;
Or a hasty retreat?
Ran fifteen feet into the depths of my own mind.
Kept my feet moving without my eyes to guide them.
Kept my mind moving
Without the light to blind them.
I kept the switch set to off,
Traveling unchartered trails.

Desensitized
Where did we learn not to fear you?
To feel comfortable in your chilling embrace.
To allow your arms to keep us safe.
To give way to your endless possibilities.
We are the minority;
The few who know you
Up close and personal.
We see you,
We hate you,
You made us,
You'll take us too.
So what happened to this daring few?
What makes us bolder,
Braver,
More cowardly,
Yet fearless?
Who made us this way?
Who told us to be the minority?
What gave us the ability to embrace you?
Why are we blessed with your constant torture?
Why must you tug at our limbs and not theirs?
Desensitized;
Are we?
We can talk freely of the subject which everyone tries to forget.
Because what is out of mind;
Is thus out of sight.
A characteristic of our kind,
Is that we often lose our will to fight.
This burden claims to be ours,
So why does it feel like it's all mine?
Why does freedom come at such a steep price?
An eternal struggle leads to a loss of eternity.
To feel comfortable in your chilling embrace.
To allow your arms to keep us safe.
To give way to your endless possibilities.
We are the minority;
The few who know you
Up close and personal.

Real Life
Serenity;
The sweet sound of serendipity
As I lay alone
And listen to you sleep.
I hear your thoughts
As I listen to you breathe.
I wisp you away,
To another sweet dream.
In your arms I pray,
For another sweet sleep.
And far from you I lay,
For only another day.
Soon I'll be with you;
And in my dreams we'll stay.
For just one more night.
Soon I'll be with my dream guy;
But this time in real life.
The sweet sound of serendipity
As I lay alone
And listen to you sleep.
I hear your thoughts
As I listen to you breathe.
I wisp you away,
To another sweet dream.
In your arms I pray,
For another sweet sleep.
And far from you I lay,
For only another day.
Soon I'll be with you;
And in my dreams we'll stay.
For just one more night.
Soon I'll be with my dream guy;
But this time in real life.

Stand Up or Give Up
Somebody needs to do something.
How about you?
Somebody needs to stop this.
Who?
Will you wait for Someone
To do it for you?
Shouldn't we find Someone?
Maybe someday?
Will someone find someday?
Whenever that might be...
I guess we're getting nowhere,
Since no one will step up.
I guess we'll just waste our days,
Waiting on someone else.
I won't be the one waiting around,
I can do this for myself.
I'll change the world,
While you sit and wait
For 'Someone' to come to town.
How about you?
Somebody needs to stop this.
Who?
Will you wait for Someone
To do it for you?
Shouldn't we find Someone?
Maybe someday?
